A Story of Friendship - Hummel & Steinbach
This story begins with Hummel’s porcelain figurine of a young boy holding his beloved Steinbach nutcracker. This figurine was dubbed Eine harte Nuss (A Hard Nut) and was produced in 2001 in limited quantity. Over twenty years later, about 100 of the figurines were found stored in a warehouse, and seeing this as the perfect opportunity to collaborate with Steinbach, Hummel reached out. Steinbach would produce 111 wooden replicas of the figurine’s nutcracker - the same amount of Hummel figurines found in the warehouse - complete with a scepter, crown, and a long white beard. The Hummel figurine and Steinbach nutcracker are now sold together, standing on a double pedestal, and are testament to both German artistry traditions.
