Oregon Caves Nutcracker
While little information can be found online about this unique nutcracker, it appears to have been a gift shop item for the Oregon Caves National Monument & Preserve. Dated 1958, this nutcracker is made from a hollowed out cross-section of a tree - bark included - and features a spring loaded plunger for cracking nuts. The quirky phrase, “just a tap or two will quickly bring your nuts all cracked out of this thing” printed on the nutcracker completes the gift shop piece. Interestingly enough, Oregon is also the home to the world’s largest wooden nutcracker, Herr Woody Winterguard, who towers at a whooping 41-feet!
