Steinbach's Swiss Yodeler Man

This whimsical piece created by Steinbach in 2002 features a Swiss man holding his country’s flag in one hand and a treicheln (a traditional Swiss bell, intricately decorated and handmade) in the other, all the while perched atop the Matterhorn. The well-dressed Swiss man’s outfit is complete with mountaineering boots and a black hat adorned with a blue alpine flower. The Matterhorn itself is a working music box with the songs “Nach em Rage schint D' Sunne,” a popular Swiss song from the 1950s that translates to “After the Rain the Sun Will Shine” and “Vo Luzen uf Weggis zue Volkst,” a yodeling song about taking a boat trip across the country.
